Ghana’s power provider, Power Distribution Services (PDS) has said it is not to blame for power outages experienced in most parts of the country on Thursday morning.
The company said the outage is due to challenges at Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo).
In a statement, PDS said its operational areas in the Southern Zone of the country were affected by the outage.
Residents in some parts of Accra, Kumasi and Ho on Thursday morning complained about unannounced power outages.
PDS said the problem was due to “unstable power supply from GRIDCo.”
“Customers should please note that immediately GRIDCo rectifies the situation, power supply will be restored to the affected areas. Any inconvenience caused is very much regretted.” PDS said in its statement.
There has been no word from GRIDCo yet over the incident.
The power transmitter has in recent times had a series of challenges that have resulted in power cuts in several areas across the country.
Last Monday, GRIDCo announced that “a conductor falling on critical equipment within the Achimota Substation,” was the cause of a power outage experienced in most parts of Accra.
The power supply in the country has been inconsistent in most parts of the country in the past month due to different challenges including recent rainstorms.
