Residents of Glefe, a community near Dansoman in the Ablekuma South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, were on Easter Monday, 22nd April, full of praise for the Amlalo Charity Foundation’s generous act of feeding and clothing them.
The initiative, dubbed ‘Operation feed 2000+ Reloaded’ 2019, is the second to be held in the community, after a similar one in 2018 benefited close to 2,000 residents, particularly children.
The residents, both young and old, were given packaged rice meals, drinks and clothing.
There was bottled water from Voltic; drinks, and medicines from Pharmanova Ghana Ltd.
In all, 2,450 packs of food, water and drinks were served. Aside from clothing of all sizes, some received bags and shoes.
There was a special treat for the children who played games such as face painting, bouncy castles and also danced among themselves and with some of the volunteers.
The event this year also saw an increase in the number of volunteers. The Seventy-Two (72) volunteers were made up of individuals from corporate Ghana, including doctors, engineers, nurses, bankers, businessmen and women.
Amlalo Charity Foundation, the main sponsors of the event, seeks to reach out to the needy by assist them, and also creating an opportunity and avenue for professionals to give back to society.
This year’s event received support from MTN Business, Pharmanova Ghana Ltd, Voltic Ghana, Kamsad Construction (Civil Engineers), Key Doctors and Solutions, EventsWeb and family and friends of the Foundation’s Founder, Ing. Bernard Lemawu.
Ing. Bernard Lemawu, a.k.a Nene Buetey, told citinewsroom.com this year’s attendance was higher and impressive, adding that the organization will continue to do this in the years ahead.
“I will follow the acts of philanthropy by my grandmother after whom the foundation was named. We intend having a mini event in August or December and the major one on Easter Monday. The venue will change from time to time. The next venue is yet to be decided.
Ing. Bernard Lemawu says the Amlalo Charity Foundation was named after his grandmother, Henrietta Adjoa Amlalo Lamptey, a philanthropist in her own right, who passed away in 2012.
“Our aim is to reach out to the needy, assist humanity in diverse ways and give opportunities to professionals to volunteer and give back to their communities” he added, thanking the volunteers and the sponsors for their immense support.
