Police in Kasoa on Friday gunned down two suspected notorious armed robbers at Awutu Bosomabena in the Central Region.
According to Citi News sources, the two, who are part of a gang of eight attempted robbing a quarry belonging to some Chinese nationals in the area.
The group reportedly exchanged fire with the Police, resulting in the death of two of the robbers.
Recounting the incident, the Kasoa Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Kofi Adu said: “One policeman was shot in the arm but at the end of the day the two policemen were able to kill two of the robbers and they were taken to the Police hospital for preservation while the investigation continues.”
“The Policeman was disarmed because he was short of ammunition and there was nothing he could do than to surrender.”
A Chinese national who only gave his name as Oliver said the robbery attack started at around 2 am.
Another worker of the quarry also applauded the efforts of men from the Kasoa Divisional Police Command for the swift response.
“The officers from Kasoa Divisional Police Commander have done a good job” another eye witness who gave his name as Michael told Citi News.”
