The Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, is set to launch a transition support fund for teachers and non-teaching staff in all of the 46 Public colleges in the country.
The fund will finance Professional Development and will be launched at 15th Congregation ceremony of St Louis College of Education in Kumasi.
Valued at GH¢4.6 million, the fund is being commissioned by the Minister of Education with collaboration from UK Aid through the Transforming Teacher Education and learning in Ghana programme.
Through the fund, the education ministry is seeking to upgrade the qualifications of teaching and non-teaching staff.
The fund will also help the ministry to ensure that all teachers have a minimum qualification of a masters degree in research by 2022.
All colleges will each be given GH¢100,000 from the fund to pay for staff professional development.
To access their allotted share of the fund all colleges are required to show they are implementing the new B.Ed curriculum in line with the National Teachers standards and the National Teacher Education Curriculum framework.
