Herquip, a group made up of young female students has embarked on a campaign aimed at encouraging holistic girl child education.
The campaign by Herquip was taken to St. Joseph’s Anglican School in Agbogba and the Jewels of the millennium schools.
The group took young girls through some life skills activities such as the proper use of the cutlery set and classes on enhancing their reading and public speaking abilities.
The young girls were also taken through, how to calculate their menstrual cycle, lining their panties and how to properly dispose of their sanitary towels.
The Herquip group made up of students at Ashesi University also gave out gifts including sanitizers, pens, notebooks and customized bookmarks.
The young girls at the St. Joseph’s Anglican School in Agbogba and the Jewels of the Millennium schools were also refreshed with snacks after each training session. The training program forms part of the students’ compulsory service learning project for their ‘Leadership 4’ class.
A member of the group, Kelsey Joan Tagoe, described their training program initiative as an exciting process of putting into practice all they have studied in their leadership class.
She further described the experience as ‘fulfilling’, adding that “We actually happened to just find each other
And we all thought it was a good cause and something worth pursuing.”
Other members of the group include; Edel Togobo, Eleanor Lebene Gbedawo, Marian-Bernice Haligah, Angela Horthman and Ohemaa Asante-Boateng.
