As part of his trip for the Russia-Africa summit, Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo mas met some managers of ride-hailing app Yango.
The summit is being held to help deepen the ties of friendship between the two sides and to explore areas of cooperation for the mutual benefits.
At the meeting with the Yango managers, Nana Addo encouraged Yandex and Yango to develop their presence in Ghana, including the launch of some educational programs, which the companies have already launched in Russia and some other countries.
“By joining the existing ride-hailing market in Accra, Yango provided its locals with the new choice. Competition is always good because it motivates all market players to improve. Everyone wins,” Musheg Sahakian, Global Director for Yango said at the meeting.
“Users get cheaper rides and better services; drivers can earn better money, and the country gets the latest high-level technologies.”
Vladimir Putin hails Yandex’s activities in Africa
In his opening statement, the President of Russia hailed Yandex, which is the parent company of Yango, for bringing up-to-date intelligent technologies from Russia to Africa.
On the same platform, Musheg Sahakian, Global Expansion Director for Yango, stressed that good earnings for drivers, together with affordable prices and high-quality service for users have are because of the unique Yandex ecosystem of services (Search, Maps, Navigations, Artificial Intelligence, Voice Assistant and 90 others), which distinguishes it from its competitors.
