Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has commissioned a durbar grounds in the Awutu Senya East constituency.
According to her, the project is meant to serve as a gathering ground for various occasions in the constituency.
Speaking to Citi News after handing over a durbar ground to the chiefs and people of Odukpong Ofaakor, the Member of Parliament indicated that many of such projects will be replicated across the country.
“It is not magic, it is a promise the president gave during our campaign that he is going to allocate 1 million dollars equivalent to do developmental projects but people doubted us and I was not surprised they doubted us because we were all in this country when they said they had eaten all the flesh and left the bones for us but the President was determined to use the bones to prepare food for Ghanaians to enjoy and that is what we are seeing now,” the Member of Parliament said.
The Minister was optimistic that together with the development authorities the project will be properly managed.
“We will collaborate with other development authorities to ensure that a proper maintenance culture is kept.
District Chief Executive for Awutu Senya East, Michael Essuman Mensah, explained that the durbar ground will serve as a Traditional Assembly point for the people of Odukpong Ofaakor.
“For every Traditional state or kingdom the Assembly point is important, you come to Ghana and everybody is talking about the Jubilee house because that is the symbol of authority so when you come to the traditional state there should be a gathering point and that is what we have done for the people of Ofaakor,” the MCE said.
He added that the current location of the durbar ground was once used as a landfill site and steps were taken to change that into a durbar ground” Michael Essuman Mensah explained.
