Kingsley Keep Fit Club in collaboration with the National Health Insurance Scheme over the weekend registered and renewed the health Insurance status of over five thousand people from the Abuakwa South Municipality during the 20th anniversary of Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin in Kyebi.
This is part of efforts to achieve the sustainable development goal 3.8 of Universal Health coverage which primarily seeks for quality essential health care services and access to safe, effective and affordable medicines and vaccines for all.
Speaking at the event Mister Kingsley Agyemang, who is the Registrar for the Scholarship Secretariat, stated ‘I believe there is the need for equitable access and financial coverage for basic health care services to all citizens as a healthy nation produces a wealthy nation.
This is part of his commitment to giving back to the Abuakwa South Constituency and ensuring their welfare by providing access to basic healthcare.
The National Health Insurance was introduced in 2003 by government to provide equitable access and financial coverage to basic health care services to Ghanaians and as such the government is expected to boost budgetary allocation for the scheme as indicated by the Finance minister in his 2020 budget presentation.
