The Eastern Regional Police Command has retrieved some items suspected to have been stolen by robbers in Nyamekrom, a suburb in the Koforidua.
Some of the items that police was able to recover were mostly electrical gadgets including television sets and laptops.
The Eastern Regional Police Command in a press statement assured it will come down hard on individuals involved in criminal activities in Koforidua and its environs.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh told Citi News that the operation was part of an exercise to clamp down on crime in the region, after a tip from an informant.
“What we have found is their proceeds of crime, which are the things they went to those places and made away with or stole. It was retrieved around a suburb of Koforidua called Nyamekrom; a newly developed area that is springing up and another area called the SNNIT flat.”
Police believe some criminals use cement blocks to force residents’ doors open to perpetrate crimes.
DSP Ebenezer Tetteh indicated that police has been unable to make any arrest.
But he advised residents to keep calm, assuring that security measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of residents.
“We have increased visibility of our personnel both day and night in the areas that I have mentioned. And since we did that with the public reassurance we have not recorded any of those attacks again.”
Mr. Tetteh added that emergency numbers have been made available to people with vital information for the police.
