Slamm Ghana has graduated about 100 Ghanaians after completion of a two-week training on helpdesk support.
This was led by the founder Samuel Boateng through a collaboration between Slamm Foundation and Slamm Technologies.
The 100 students received t-shirts, and certificates to mark the completion of their training.
The top 5 performers were selected to intern with Slamm Technologies and received a pack of help desk support tools.
The founder of Slamm Technologies, Samuel Boateng on the rationale of the program said the “Slamm Foundation looks at training people who are financially handicapped and want to learn IT”.
This empowers them with livelihood skills and helps tackle unemployment.
He further explained that the program equipped graduands with skills as computer and mobile support technician to readily establish their business to earn an income.
On the outcome of the yearly program, he said that: “The two-week training comprised of fixing hardware and software of computers, phones, tablets, and other peripherals. So I showed them how to fix it. This is what will bring job to the people. There are some [technological] areas which is difficult to find jobs and takes time to build strength in those areas. This is about learning fast and launching your business out there and start working. Help desk is very difficult but when you have the experts they will teach you to be able to learn all the areas that will help and equip you to become the best in the market.”
He added that Slamm Foundation trains young people in areas of their interest so that “they can build themselves up. We don’t only talk about growth, we give you the hands-on training and it is something that you will do. We portion certain time of our program for hands-on training until you’re confident in yourself that you can do it, that is where we leave them.”
A beneficiary of the program, Marty Michael Ardmond Quaye said: “I have learnt a lot and I am going to impart. I have learnt that IT is not about the threat but it is also about protection and security.”
