The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Sugandh Rajaram is set to visit the mining town of Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.
The visit of the diplomat to Obuasi on Thursday, 22nd April 2021, is under the auspices of the Rotary Club of Obuasi.
Briefing the media ahead of Mr. Rajaram’s visit, the President of Rotary Club of Obuasi, Abdul Mumin Tahir said the visit will give the Indian High Commissioner the opportunity to acquaint himself with the activities of Rotarians in Obuasi.
Again he said the visit will help foster good relations between Obuasi Rotary Club and the Indian High Commission in Ghana.
The diplomat’s itinerary will include a visit to Rotary community service project sites at Akokoaso (30 household microflush toilets and mechanised Borehole), Dadwen (1 mechanised borehole) and Komfokrom (30 household microflush toilets).
The Rotary Club of Obuasi has since its establishment in June 2019 been supporting individuals and communities in and around Obuasi.
Some of the projects undertaken during this short period of its existence include a tree-planting project, donation to an orphanage, polio vaccinations/eradication drive, donation of hygiene Items among others.
About H.E Sugandh Rajaram
Mr. Sugandh Rajaram entered into Indian Foreign Service in 2001.
He began his diplomatic career at the Indian Mission in Moscow (2003-2006). Later, he served in the Indian Diplomatic Missions in Jakarta (2008-2011) and in New York (2011-2014).
He also served at the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi dealing with India’s relations with Sri Lanka (2006-2008) and Pakistan (20015-2016) and with External Publicity & Public Diplomacy (2016).
Before taking over as High Commission of India to Ghana in January 2020 he was the Consul General of India in Munich (2016-2019).
