Guinness Ghana, Ghana’s leading total beverage business has donated items worth GHS 85,000 to Citi FM/Citi TV’s relief support campaign for victims affected by the Akosombo dam spillage in the Lower Volta.
The items donated comprise 1,000 cases of Malta Guinness and 35 water containers with a 1000-litre capacity to help with relief efforts, in conjunction with Nyansapo Energy.
Speaking to Citi News, Corporate Communications Manager, Philip Ashon indicated that the donation was in line with the company’s vision of ensuring a sustainable and equitable world where all persons can thrive.
“This disaster affects everyone, including the people who enjoy our brands. As a corporate entity, we are committed to doing business the right way in all places where we source, sell and live.”
“This contribution is part of efforts we are taking to help the affected people in the flooded communities as they continue their journey to restructuring their lives. This is a collaborative effort and as Citi FM and Citi TV have shown, we all need to come together in this challenging time and help.”
On his part, the Managing Director for Nyansapo Energy, Kwaku Dormenyo indicated that “the devastation has affected a lot of the people, and for me and the Nyansapo team, it is personal.”
“I am happy with the support that Guinness Ghana has given in terms of the supply of the tanks. I believe that other corporate entities should rally round our brothers and sisters in the Volta Region and help where they can.”
