Police in the New Juaben North Municipality are investigating a suspected suicide involving 30-year-old Christopher Owusu at Asokore-Dabiasem near Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
Some residents are said to have found him hanging from a rope around his neck at 11:30 am on Wednesday, prompting a swift police response.
Although the motive remains unclear, officials from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and police from the Effiduase command, who visited the scene, recovered a suicide note authored by the deceased.
The police told Citi News, “Around 11:30 am, we received a call from some residents of Dabiasem in Asokore, New Juabeng north municipality that a young man in his 30s called Christopher Owusu, who is popularly known as Christ, has committed suicide by hanging.”
“So we rushed there with an officer from Effiduase Police command. When we got there, it was true, we found the body hanging as it was reported, and we were able to break through the doors and entered. Our main aim was to convey the body to the mortuary, which was successfully done, but we found a note written by him. As investigations are still ongoing, we can’t reveal the details that were contained in the note.”
