The aspiring Parliamentary Candidate for Adentan Constituency, Akosua Asaa Manu, has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Adentan Constituency to come together ahead of the 2024 general elections to secure power for the party after its delegates’ conference.
She mentioned that party members should draw inspiration from the tranquility and unity demonstrated by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Kennedy Agyapong after the recently concluded elections.
Emphasizing the need for cohesion within the party, Akosua Manu highlighted their peaceful post-election conduct, underlining the importance of their exemplary maturity, which recognized the significant challenge ahead—the 2024 general election.
Speaking at a health screening event organized by Kozie Cares Medical Outreach for residents of Lakeside Room 6 Station in the Adentan Constituency, she noted that the NPP primaries leading up to the 2024 election were marked by fierce competition between Dr. Bawumia and Mr. Agyapong, a prominent party member and Member of Parliament for Assin Central.
Acknowledging Mr. Agyapong’s personality, she said that although he is known for his strong stance on issues and has a vocal presence within the party, which presented a formidable challenge during the election, he has shown that with determination, one can achieve whatever one sets their mind to. She urged the youth to emulate his tenacity.
Regarding the health screening, Akosua Manu said that over 40,000 beneficiaries in the 16 electoral areas in the Adentan Constituency have received vital medical support. She added that, following interactions with some of the beneficiaries, they expressed gratitude for the medical provisions, including medication and eyeglasses, which are expected to significantly enhance healthcare in the community, as emphasized by the delighted beneficiaries.
Furthermore, Dr. Joel Segbefia, who is part of the Kozie Care Medical Outreach team, highlighted the prevalence of high blood pressure within the community.
He noted that the Ghana Health Service recognizes hypertension as a common condition among adults, contributing significantly to non-communicable diseases.
Dr. Segbefia pointed out that if left unmanaged, hypertension can place excessive pressure on the heart, leading to an increased risk of heart diseases, stroke, kidney damage, vision problems, and damage to the blood vessels in the eyes, potentially causing blindness.
Therefore, advocating for regular blood pressure checks, Dr. Segbefia urged residents to purchase blood pressure monitoring devices for home use, aiming to prevent and mitigate the health risks associated with high blood pressure.
Akosua Manu concluded her remarks by appealing to delegates for their support in the upcoming “Extraordinary Constituency Delegates Conference” scheduled to take place in orphan constituencies on December 2, 2023.
Akosua Manu expressed her desire for their trust and emphasized her openness to advice and critique from fellow party members.
