The Northern Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu has been defeated at the just ended Northern Regional Delegates Congress.
Business mogul, Mohammed A. Baantima Samba won the Chairmanship slot with 311 votes out of the 492 total votes cast while Bugri Naabu secured 116 votes.

Legal practitioner, Sule Sambian won the Secretary position.
Alhaji Rashid COP, the immediate former Youth Organizer, also won the Regional Organizer position.
The outspoken defeated Chairman was involved in an accident last Wednesday before the election.

He who has been Northern Regional NPP Chairman since 2014 went to the venue for the Congress; the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium in Tamale earlier today in a wheelchair while his mangled vehicle was also towed to the place.

Iddrisu Sunday won the 1st Vice Chairman position while the Northern Regional Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), Felicia Tettey was elected 2nd Vice Chair.
A leading member of the NPP popular vigilante group, the Kandahar Boys, Mohammed Alhassan Ghana won the Youth Organizer position.
The delegates overwhelmingly voted Hajia Rahana Aziz as the Women’s Organizer and Alhaji Sibidow Alhassan Yakubu won the Regional Treasurer position.
The incumbent Assistant Regional Secretary, Haruna Iddrisu retained his position.
Sham-Una Ilyasu Mohammed also retained his position as the Nasara Coordinator for the region.
