The Vice-Chancellor of Takoradi Technical University (TTU), Prof. John Frank Eshun, has reiterated the university’s commitment to equip students with skills for the job market through career development programmes.
Speaking during the launch of Career Day, Prof. Eshun, called on the Career Development Office (CDO) of the university to guide students to take their entrepreneurial initiatives based on their skills and interests.
He said the Guidance and Counseling Centre of the institution would continue to function by focusing on academic and developmental challenges as well as psychological matters.
The Deputy Registrar in charge of Career Development, Anthony Minlah Mensah, said the CDO, established in 2017 and modelled after the Career Services Office of Ashesi University, will nurture students to satisfy employment requirements based on merit after graduation.
He said his office has partnered with the Students Representative Council (SRC) to sensitise students on the need to equip themselves with relevant skills and information needed to be successful in the world of work.
Mr Minlah Mensah called on students to take advantage of special ICT courses and training programmes offered by the university to prepare themselves for the modern job market which prioritises soft skills over hard skills.
