Midland Savings and Loans has settled on a compensation package for Patience Osafo, who was assaulted by a police officer on guard duty at the company’s Shiashie office.
“At the final meeting held with the victim, her family and Counsel on Thursday 26th July, the parties arrived at an amicable solution to the impasse, where the victim, Madam Patience Osafo accepted a sincere apology from the entire management and staff of Midland Savings and Loans along with a compensation package,”Midland confirmed in a statement.
Details of the package were however not stated in the release.
The company reiterated its regret over the incident and appealed to its clients to remain loyal.
“Rest assured that steps have been taken to ensure that an act of that nature never occurs at any of our branches ever again. We promise to improve upon our service delivery and humbly appeal to the general public, most importantly our clients and customers to continue patronising our products and services that have been offered over the last 21 years and counting.”
The officer, Lance Corporal Frederick Amanor, who assaulted Patience Osafo has been arrested and arraigned.
Frederick Amanor assaulted her for refusing to leave the banking hall of Midland Savings and Loans with her grandchild.
He pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault at an Accra Circuit Court.
This is despite him being captured on tape assaulting a woman at the banking hall of Midland Savings and Loans.
The police officer was remanded after his plea.

The management of Midland Savings and Loans has engaged with Madam Patience Osafo who was assaulted at our East Legon Branch on Thursday 19th July 2018.
At the final meeting held with the victim, her family and Counsel on Thursday 26th July, the parties arrived at an amicable solution to the impasse, where the victim, Madam Patience Osafo accepted a sincere apology from the entire management and staff of Midland Savings and Loans along with a compensation package.
