Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has advised industry players in the petroleum sector to collaborate to ensure adequate product delivery and economic growth.
The Asantehene was speaking at his Palace in Manhyia when the Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Hassan Tampuli, led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on him.
The Asantehene said the critical role the NPA plays in the economic development of the country could not be overlooked, and therefore advised the Mr. Tampuli and his team to make sure regulations and certification are enforced.
He said past explosions should serve as a guide for the NPA to introduce safety measures to save lives and property.
Otumfuo added that the recent heavy rains in Angloga, a suburb in Kumasi, which led to the flooding of a petrol station, was a clear indication for efficient collaboration between the industry players, to avoid a repeat of the flood and fire that took many lives in Accra.
He assured the NPA of his willingness to offer counsel where necessary, to ensure they discharge their duties to the good of the country.
On his part, Mr. Tampuli took the opportunity to brief the Asantehene on the current stakeholder engagements of the Cylinder Re-circulation Model.
“ Ghanaians will remain the fulcrum around which the policy revolves,” he assured the Asantehene.
On the issue of the agitations against the policy, Mr. Tampuli reiterated the commitment of his team to continue with discussions, so the best strategy is delivered to the people of Ghana.
