The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tamale, Iddrisu Musah Superior, has urged calm after the Chief Executive Officer of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Dr. David Zaawumya Kolbila, was reportedly ordered out of the hospital by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) affiliated-groups.
The groups; the Kandahar Boys and the Concerned NPP Youth Coalition has complained that the CEO was incompetent, misused hospital funds and neglected them.

“There is no evidence of vandalism. People are going about their duties without any fear or favor. There are patients around, and I don’t think there is any cause for alarm at the moment,” he said.
So far, only the Concerned NPP Youth Coalition has claimed responsibility for the incident.
Reports of the Kandahar Boys’ involvement remains unconfirmed, and Musah Superior was willing to vouch for the NPP group.
He described the Kandahar Boys “as one of the most effective youth wings in the Northern Region.”
“I cannot confirm that Kandahar Boys were there because I have spoken to the leadership of the Kandahar Boys and they have denied partly that they were part of the group that went to the hospital.”
He however says he did not know the Coalition of NPP Youth Group while condemning their actions.
“Any group that does this is not something that is acceptable to our party.”
Musah superior added that Dr.Kolbila, who is doing “very well,” will be allowed to return to work.
“No person can go and harm the CEO. I have spoken to police authorities. The Metropolitan Security Council will meet [today] on this matter, and the CEO is being asked to return to work.”
NPP Youth defiant
The spokesperson of Concerned NPP Youth Coalition, Baba Alhassan, however, served notice that it will not tolerate Dr. Kolbila because of his perceived non-performance.
He insisted without providing evidence, that the Tamale Teaching hospital was being run down.
“We don’t have anyone in mind to be the CEO of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, but our investigation indicates that the hospital lacks the basic things that it needs to work,” he said.
“Even if they [government] go to heaven and bring someone who is not performing, we will not agree. We want the hospital to be up to standard.”
