The Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) of the Electoral Commission (EC) will later this afternoon, Wednesday, August 22, 2018, convene to discuss issues relating to the electoral calendar.
Top of the agenda will be the 2018 Limited Voter Registration exercise and the referendum on the creation of new regions.
Even though this is expected to be Mrs Jean Mensa’s first meeting with representatives of the political parties since assuming office as Head of the electoral management body, Citi News sources say she is out of the jurisdiction and may not be present at this meeting.
She assumed office last month with the opposition NDC saying they may not enjoy a cordial working relationship with her given their concerns with her when she was head of policy think tank, Institute of Economic Affairs, IEA.
They thus spoke vehemently against her appointment as EC Boss.
It is still unclear what the party’s official posture will be in relation to working with the re-structured Electoral Commission.
