Residents of Dawhenya in the Ningo Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region, have threatened to stage a demonstration over what the neglect of a key link road within the area.
The Dawhenya to Afienya link road has been neglected by successive governments, a situation that has infuriated residents.

“My name is Alvin Nii Okai and we are appealing to the government to just have a critical look at the situation here at Dawhenya, people’s houses have been demolished without compensation and the dust from the road is disturbing us. If government doesn’t listen to our plea, we the youth of Dawhenya would organize ourselves and block the road, because the road has been in this state for a long time,” he said.
This year has seen a number of roadblocks and protests over the poor state of roads in various parts of the country.
In September, some residents of Tarkwa, a mining town in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region, led by their chiefs blocked the main Tarkwa Takoradi Highway in protest against deteriorating roads.
They blocked the road and burned tyres in front of the Anglogold Ashanti, Iduaprim Mines.
In October, residents of Ablekuma Manhean in the Ga West municipality of the Greater Accra Region staged a fierce protest against the government over the dilapidated state of their roads.
They burnt vehicles tyres and blocked major roads, making human and vehicular movements impossible.
