Alhaji Mohammed a Public Toilet Attendant believed to be in his mid-60s, who has been accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in a public toilet, has appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.
Alhaji Mohammed, charged with indecent assault, pleaded not guilty.
The court, presided over by Mrs Rita Abrokwah Doko, has admitted Mohammed to bail in the sum of GH¢10,000 with three sureties, to reappear on February 21.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the complainant is a trader residing at Dome Pillar two with the victim, who is her stepdaughter.
Chief Inspector Atimbire said the complainant operates at Ofankor, in Accra while Mohammed also works at Ofankor as a Toilet Attendant.
He said on December 1, last year, the victim went to use the public toilet where Mohammed works, and when she finished and was about to leave, Mohammed lured her into a cubicle and sexually assaulted her with his finger.
The Prosecution said the following day, the victim narrated her ordeal to the complainant.
He said on the 3rd December last year, the complainant and victim proceeded to the Ofankor Police Station to lodge a complaint.
Mr Atimbire said a Police medical report form was issued to the complainant to seek medical assistance for the victim.
The Prosecution said subsequently, Mohammed was arrested by the Police and the matter was transferred to the Tesano Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit for further investigations.
