Millions of Ghanaians ushered in the New Year with watchnight services nationwide.
Most churches in the country recorded high numbers of worshippers on New Year’s Eve, with many Christians, as is the custom, bidding farewell to the outgoing year and praying for better things in the new year.
Some churches take advantage of the service to sell their vision and objectives for the new year to their members.
Watchnight services usually last for hours and are held between 9:00 pm on the night of December 31 until a little after midnight in a country which has about 70% of its population being Christians.
Some of the worshippers who spoke to Citi News say they went to church to usher in the New Year in the presence of God.
Others also said they went to church to put their needs before God and also use the opportunity to make New Year resolutions.
