The Old Students Association of Koforidua Secondary Technical School is appealing to the government to fulfil all promises made to schools before the commencement of the Free Senior High School programme.
According to the association, though the government is doing well in providing senior high schools with infrastructure, the slow pace is affecting the delivery of quality education in various schools.
Currently, Students of Koforidua Sectech are in deficit of over a thousand desk, a thousand drawing boards and mathematical instruments among other challenges.
In an interview with Citi News, at the presentation of 30o new mono desks, the president of the Old Students Association, Mr Scofray Nana Yeboah called on the government to fulfil its promises.
“As we speak Koforidua SECTECH is a science and technology based school and the challenge we have now is that we have a deficit of about thousand drawing boards, thousand pieces of sets square and maths sets. If they do not have desks where are they going to have their practicals, if they do not have drawing boards how are they going to study?”
“These are the challenges being encountered in the school as we speak and these are all responsibilities of government. We the old students have taken up upon ourselves to construct a theatre for the students. The amount of money we have put into the project is not a child’s play but we have to abandon that project and come and look for desk for the kids. So we are appealing to government to do its part.”.
He also advised parents to show more commitment to the education of their wards.
“What we want parents to know is that the benefit of everything we do in the school is for their wards and not the association. So if you are a parent seek the total welfare of your child.”
