The Suhum District court has remanded into police custody the five suspects who allegedly robbed and killed a Chinese national at Asuboi near Suhum Municipality in the Eastern Region.
The suspects, Dennis Atta Kwabena Senior, Daniel Atta Kwabena Junior, Saviour Yebge, Richard Offei and Kwaku Djin attacked six Chinese contractors who were working on a one district one factory project in the area, robbed them of their valuables and in the process struck the head of one of them with a moulded cement block which led to his death.
They were subsequently arrested at separate hideouts by the Suhum police a day after the incidence.
The suspects who were charged with robbery, murder and possession of narcotics were remanded to reappear on May 3rd, 2019 by presiding Judge, her worship Mrs Rhoda Donkor.
DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer who confirmed the proceedings to Citi News indicated that investigations are still ongoing.
” On 16/04/2019, suspects Dennis Atta Kwabena Senior, Daniel Atta Kwabena Junior, Saviour Yebge, Richard Offei and Kwaku Djin were put before the District Court, Suhum presided over by her worship Mrs. Rhoda Donkor on provisional charges of robbery and murder”.
” Suspects Dennis Atta Kwabena Senior and Daniel Atta Kwabena Junior were additionally charged with the offence of possessing narcotic drugs without lawful authority. All the suspects were remanded into Police custody to assist us with our investigation and they will re-appear on May 3rd, 2019″.
