Exactly a year ago today, a new television revolution began in Ghana.
Based in Adabraka in Accra and anchored on the tenets of leading English broadcasting radio station in the country, Citi TV took the media space by storm with a promise to deliver relevant content to a specific target audience.
Citi TV was established with the vision of being the leading broadcaster in news and current affairs programmes as well as providing exciting entertainment content to viewers.
A year on, the station is in full flight and is fast becoming a favourite among Ghanaian viewers.
Speaking on the first anniversary of Citi TV, the CEO, Samuel Attah-Mensah explained that the Citi TV brand aimed to have a unique presence in the Ghanaian media market adding that one year after its establishment, “the station has gotten a lot of things right.”
He also added the establishment of Citi TV was geared towards connecting their audiences with relevant content they could easily relate to.
“We have seen what I refer to as, content explosion from different platforms, specifically social media and so it is important for us to convert loads of content that we were converting from radio and real time online programming that we were doing on to another platform and that we thought digital television was the way to go, so Citi TV has been able to integrate live radio programming, event programming, social media programming into another package that is on television.”
“Ours is to be able to connect content with audiences and make sure that audiences are given the right channels of expression… One year down the line, we can say we have gotten a lot of the things right.”
