The La District Motor Court has slapped fines ranging from Ghc 600 and Ghc 700 on some of the 55 drivers who were arraigned for breaking traffic regulations on the Tema Motorway.
It follows Citi TV’s War Against Indiscipline (WAI).
Some of the motorists, including an expectant mother, were also cautioned.
The drivers who were fined included lawyers, law enforcement officers, bankers among others who made unlawful U-turns and drove on the shoulders of the Tema-bound section of the Accra-Tema Motorway.
Citi News’ Kojo Agyeman reported that sixteen of these errant drivers, who did not appear in court today, are to appear in court on Monday.
One of the culprits who pleaded not guilty has been granted bail after satisfying a bail condition of GHc2,000.
Since the inception of Citi TV’s War Against Indiscipline campaign, over one hundred drivers have been arraigned for various traffic offences on the road.
