A day’s workshop has been organised on social media for journalists working in the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions.
The workshop was organised by telecommunication giant, MTN.
The programme was attended by over 20 Journalists.
Speaking at the programme, a social media Expert and Digital Lead at Popout, Maximus Ametorgoh, adviced the journalists to embrace the social media revolution in their work as it has come to stay.
Mr. Ametorgoh noted that more people are now appreciating social media and with this, journalists can take advantage by pushing their stories through such channels to make the needed impact.
He also indicated that journalists can also monetise their work as they make good use of social media.
He also advised media houses who are not hooked up to social media to do that because it would go a long way to increase their presence and influence and also generate an income aside the traditional channels of making money.
He also disclosed that most people are now accessing news on their mobile phones, this he said called for media houses to be innovative to develop Apps which they can monetise to generate some income as people access news.
The Corporate Communications Manager of MTN, Efua Falconer, in an interview, said the company is leading the digital revolution in the country.
She indicated that the training of journalists forms part of the company’s agenda in its digital revolution strategy.
