Personnel of the Ghana Fire Service course 33 group has donated a poly tank and some food items to the Akwadum orphanage in the New Juaben North Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The items which include toiletries, drinks, biscuits, bags of rice, cooking oil also contain an envelope with an undisclosed amount of money for the upkeep of children at the orphanage home.
This gesture by the course 33 group forms part of the celebration of their 17th anniversary after passing out of the fire academy.
At a short ceremony for the presentation of the items and handing over of the poly tank to the management of the orphanage, the Chairman of course 33 Division said they believes in giving back to the society.
“We are here today to officially hand over this poly tank and the stand which we have constructed to the orphanage home. We got the information that they needed a poly tank urgently to help with their daily activities”.
“The tank is not the only thing we are giving but, we are also giving them soaps and toiletries, food items like milk, biscuits, drinks, rice, cooking oil just to mention a few and also cash to assist them”.
“This forms part of the celebration of our 17th anniversary as a group and we thought it wise to share this memorable anniversary with the kids of this orphanage and let them know we love them and encourage them to know they have bright future ahead of them if they learn, obey and respect authority”.
The Deputy Eastern Regional Fire Commander D0 2 who assisted the team in a Citi News Interview called on other sister services to replicate the gesture.
“This beautiful thing we are seeing here today is as a result of the benevolence of these guys who contributed from their own salaries. They know, understand and believe in giving back to the society and I’m sure this motivated them to do so but I believe other sister institutions can emulate this and also visit some orphanage homes and do something memorable which will leave a mark in the hearts of the less privileged kids”.
“Most of the times, we are at the receiving end but the Bible and the Qur’an tell us that there is more blessings in giving than receiving so we should all cultivate that habit and make a mark in the lives of the less privileged in society”.
