The DNA test on the human remains retrieved from the vicinity of the residence of an alleged kidnapper, Samuel Udoetuk Wills is yet to be completed.
This is according to Citi News sources within the Ghana Police Service.
In an earlier interview with Citi News, the spokesperson for families of the three kidnapped girls, Michael Grant Hayford called on the Police Service to expedite action on the remains.
He also blamed the Police for keeping the families in the dark on the progress of the tests.
Their agitation follows the expiration of a four-week deadline given by the Police to complete the DNA test.
The DNA test became crucial after human parts were found close to the residence of Mr. Wills.
The families of the four kidnapped girls provided DNA samples for the test after a series of objections and protest.
Mr. Michael Grant on Eyewitness News said they had not received any information or updates from the police about the DNA samples.
“When asked when last they heard from the police, he replied, “That was last three weeks. The liaison officer came to visit the family and then he told us that as soon as the report comes in they will let us know. But as it stands now the month has ended. That was a week ago and there’s been no information from them so we are just hoping that they will come out with the report.”
“You know the month just ended last week so we wanted to give them a week more. The week will end like coming Friday. So after Friday if there is nothing like report we will just move to their office to verify from them what they have for us,” he continued.
Some residents of Takoradi had threatened to hit the streets of Takoradi with a mammoth demonstration if the results of the DNA test results match remains discovered weeks ago.
