The winner of the 2019 edition of Citi FM/TV’s The Literacy Challenge has received her GHc 10,000 cash prize.
Stephanie Panyin Ghanney, a final year student of the St. Paul Methodist Preparatory in Winneba was at the Citi FM/TV premises on Wednesday for her cheque presented by the Human Resources Manager of the station, Mrs. Jennifer Anane-Nsiah.
She was accompanied by her parents, teachers, headmaster, and school mates in excitement.
On her plans for the prize money, Stephanie said she will invest and make some benevolent donations.
“I am happy because of the money. Life after Literacy Challenge has been exciting because of the congratulatory meesages I always receive from friends and family. Now, I am very confident because of the competition. I am actually going to save much of the money. I also promised my school a special package so I am going to honour it. I am also going to give some to teachers who have helped me come this far. “
Stephanie beat off competition from nine others to win the competition after several stages.
The first runner-up, Aseyenedi Esi Tamakloe and second runner up, Naana Ekua Adokua Annan have also received their cash prize of Ghc 5,000 and Ghc 3,000 respectively.
The Literacy Challenge seeks to identify and reward the most-outstanding ‘all-round’ JHS Student in Ghana, promote Literacy and Numeracy in Ghana, to shed more light on the importance of Literacy, Numeracy, and education as a whole and to project 97.3 Citi FM as the leading media entity, that supports Literacy in Ghana, among others.
