Citi FM/ Citi TV has presented a cash price of 3,000 Ghana cedis to the second runner up of the 2019 Edition of the Literacy Challenge.

Naana Akua Annan, who is a pupil of the Silicon Valley International School at Ofankor in Accra, was overjoyed at the presentation at her school today.

Some of Naana’s classmates who spoke to Citi News expressed their excitement over her feat. According to them, Naana Akua Annan is a smart girl who will go places.

Other classmates described her exploits during the competition as an inspiration to the school

“I knew she was very smart, but I didn’t know she could reach the top three. I am really happy for her. She will go places,” one said

“I was very happy for her, she has made us all proud.” another said.

One of her teachers, Simon Yeboah said although the school expected Naana to win the ultimate prize, they are still proud of her nonetheless.

“We are very much excited although we expected her to win, last year we did not do too well. This year was our second time of participation,, but we are proud of were we are now. She did well and we are all proud.” he said

Speaking to Citi News, a visibly elated Naana Akua Annan expressed her appreciation to Citi FM/Citi TV for the opportunity, adding that she was overwhelmed.

“I can’t even believe how I got here, I wasn’t expected to be part of the top 50, but this how far I got. I am overwhelmed.”

Naana Akua Annan’s mum who was visibly elated at the presentation ceremony at the school disclosed that her daughter has opted to invest the money to cater for her tertiary education overseas, more specifically, Havard University.

“I am very excited and proud to be her mother. She knows the history of how she was conceived. She’s a miracle baby. She says she wants to go to Harvard, so we should use the money to defray the cost”

Naana’s presentation followed one yesterday to  Aseyenedi Esi Tamakloe at her school,  Ancilla Catholic Primary and J.H.S in Accra.

Aseyenedi Esi Tamakloe walked away with GHc5,000 for placing 2nd in the competition
