The Yendi township was brought to a standstill as constituents poured in their huge numbers to support Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama to file his nomination forms.
The huge crowd comprising of party delegates, party members and youth cheered him from his residence to the constituency party office to officially seal his nomination documents.
Responding to cheers from the large numbers of elated New Patriotic Party (NPP) members and sympathisers who thronged the party office to show support for his candidature, he reiterated his commitment to leading a united party in the Yendi constituency, as he believes that is the necessary condition for securing victory in the 2020 General Elections.
He assured the constituency executives, opinion leaders and elders of the party that he will abide by the rules and regulations of the primary, as set out by the party, and will also ensure that his supporters do likewise
The submission was climaxed by a rally to officially set the tone for his campaign.
Addressing supporters gathered at the grounds, he emphasized that he could be trusted to serve the constituency well, stressing and he had the vision, network and experience to inspire and lead the Yendi NPP to victory in 2020.
Farouk Aliu Mahama reiterated his appeal to the party in the constituency to be united into to retain President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The New Patriotic Party will be holding its parliamentary primaries on April 25; the same day it will also be holding its presidential primaries.
The party has already held primaries for constituencies that do not have sitting Members of Parliament.
