West Africa’s leading connectivity and data center solutions provider, MainOne, is partnering with CSquared, Ghana’s premier technology infrastructure company to support and enable the Government of Ghana in its fight against COVID-19.
The joint initiative includes the provision of free connectivity capacity and internet services to strategic state institutions for free for a period of 6 months, as well as 100% capacity upgrade at no additional charge during the period.
According to both MainOne and Csquared, it is part of their continuing efforts to support government and businesses in Ghana to facilitate access to critical connectivity and ICT infrastructure required for the delivery of online and real-time public services during this challenging period in Ghana.
With civil lockdown, social distancing and remote work patterns becoming the new-normal in Ghana and globally, MainOne and Csquared are committed to ensuring that the Government of Ghana continues to dispense its socio-economic and public security responsibilities through virtual platforms that are becoming more widely adopted around the world.
The enhanced connectivity offering provides the Government with robust access to real-time information management, whilst seamlessly connecting essential workers across the nation.
It is also helping to drive dynamic exchange of scientific findings and access to global knowledge related to control and management of the disease by researchers in Ghana, enabling them to collaborate with colleagues around the world and participate in the global fight against the pandemic.
While speaking on the impetus for the joint COVID-19 intervention, MainOne’s Regional Executive, West Africa, Kazeem Oladepo, explained that “as an organization committed to enabling the digital economy of West Africa, MainOne is well aware of the impact of the pandemic on public utility, infrastructure and businesses, as well as the economic challenges faced by Governments. As a premier provider and responsible Ghanaian business, we will continue to support the efforts of Governments at every level by providing world-class internet infrastructure and value-added services that reduce cost, drive operational continuity and seamless communication for good governance in Ghana. We are proud to partner with CSquared, who share our commitment to supporting Governments’ effort in managing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic across the subregion.”
Echoing similar views, Estelle Akofio-Sowah, Country Manager, CSquared Ghana added that “Csquared appreciates the efforts of the Ghanaian Government as it continues to work to contain the COVID-19 spread in the country, trying its best to ensure the economic stability of the nation. It is crucial that we work with partners such as MainOne, to provide connectivity infrastructure that enables the Government to minimize the impact of COVID-19 on all sectors and accelerate the ‘return to normal’ of public, businesses and economic activities, especially in the post-COVID-19 world.”
