The LPG Marketers Association of Ghana has assured its consumers of full supply across the country latest by Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
According to the association, although tanker drivers have called off their strike, it will take some time to cart the product from source to the various distribution outlets.
The drivers declared a strike last month over poor working conditions among other issues.
They however in a statement sighted by Citi News on Sunday, November 1, 2020, announced that they had suspended the strike.
The decision was after they had an emergency meeting with the Ministry for Employment and Labour Relations.
However, some consumers lamented that they were unable to access the commodity.
The Vice President of the LPG Marketers Association of Ghana, Gabriel Kumi called for calm as they work tirelessly to restore supply.
“After a protracted meeting yesterday [Sunday] with the tanker drivers, the meeting was organized by the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations. The Minister managed to get them to call off the strike yesterday and as at this morning, they have resumed work in earnest,” he said.
He explained that “it takes a bit of time to load the products from the various depots to the plants, so we are hopeful that this afternoon, there will be supplies in Accra. For those going from Accra to Kumasi and other places, we are very hopeful that the drivers will travel this evening so by tomorrow morning [Tuesday], the product will be available at all the various LPG stations across the country,” he said.
“We want to appeal to the general public to have a little bit of patience, and we are hopeful that by tomorrow morning supply and distribution to the general public will be in full swing,” Gabriel Kumi added.
