Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Richard Gyan Mensah has visited some industrial companies in his constituency to get better acquainted with their operations.
The move is also aimed at familiarizing with the companies in his constituency and finding ways of getting the youth employed by some of these companies.
The MP again indicated that the visit also affords the various companies the opportunity to deliberate on ways of giving back to the society where they operate.
Speaking to Citi News, the Gomoa West legislator explained that the siting of the companies in the constituency will help bridge the unemployment gap as well as turning Gomoa West into an industrial enclave.
The MP visited the Meinergy Solar Power station at Onyadze, the China Harbour Engineering Company at Ankamu, and the JB Quarry at Gomoa Assin.
“The visit to these companies is aimed at getting first-hand information on the industries in my constituency, how best to get the youth of my constituency the job opportunity and also fight for better condition of service for the local workers there,” Richard Gyan Mensah told Citi News.
“I am happy because over 70% of the youth in my area have been employed by these companies. It is my duty to see Gomoa West have an industrial hub, so I will engage the chiefs of the various communities to see how best they can provide land to investors,” Mr. Mensah said.
According to the MP, the companies were encouraged to give back to the society where they operate to foster peaceful coexistence.
“I believe once the youth of the community are employed, it will prevent them from engaging in bad practices. Through the engagement we also reminded them about their corporate social responsibility to the society” Richard Gyan Mensah said.
He was optimistic that the community will work hand in hand with the companies to ensure success.
