The Ghana Police Service says it is pursuing four suspected armed robbers who reportedly shot into a VIP bus along the Ejura-Mampong road in the Ashanti Region.
The Thursday, 10th March 2022 incident led to the death of one person and the injury of another.
The police in a statement said a special operation led by the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Boakye Afful Yiadom has been initiated in the Woraso area where the incident happened and surrounding communities.
“The Regional anti-robbery team led by the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr. Boakye Afful Yiadom has since moved to the area and are pursuing the alleged highway armed robbers in the bushes and the surrounding towns to get them arrested,” the statement said.
The police further urged residents within the area to cooperate with them and assist them with relevant information that will help to apprehend the suspects.
The statement further noted that the victims of the crime are being taken through psychological and counselling sessions as investigations continue.
“Meanwhile, the Police are in contact with the family of the victims and they are being taken through psychological and counselling sessions, whole the investigation continues. The injured persons is in a stable condition receiving medical treatment,” the statement said.
