Residents of Madina Doku in Accra are calling on the Municipal Assembly to fix their poor road network.
The community, which is few meters away from the Madina Post Office, is home to over a 1,000 people.
Residents say the local authorities have not paid much attention to their bad road network which makes life unbearable for them especially when it rains.
They say the deep potholes and the muddy nature of the roads impede free movement.
Some residents who spoke to Citi News said, “This is the time we need them to come to our aid but we don’t see them. This is why we voted for them, but we still don’t see anything. Sometimes people find it difficult to come out of their homes whenever it rains so it is very difficult because we queue and vote for them but they don’t do anything”, a resident lamented.
“The way this place is flooded, when someone is walking the person can get hurt and it can cause an accident. We have MPs so we want them to talk about the effects of the bad roads” another said.
Another resident further indicated that the lack of gutters was impacting the community negatively.
They therefore calling on relevant authorities to take steps to address the community’s problems.
