The President of the Graduate Students Association-Legon Chapter, Christiana Adu has lauded the Vice-Chancellor, Nana Aba Appiah Amfo for launching a digitalisation programme purposed to enhance the UG student experience in the field of Information Technology.
Information Technology facilitates storing and regaining huge information quickly with the help of hardware and software networks and workstations at lesser cost.
Also, it helps to combine and configure data to create distinctly new information, which helps to reach urgent decisions quickly.
The global expansion of digitalisation has propelled the introduction of information technology in all facets of endeavour, to ensure record keeping as well as teaching and learning.
The sudden strike of COVID-19 has left world economies, schools, and businesses with no option but to resort to online trading, shopping as well as teaching and learning.
The use of Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft are all online channels which make teaching and learning easier in the field of academia.
“As an association, it has always been a burden to find the way possible to introduce all graduate students to research assisted programmes like, Introduction to Mendeley, how to search for references and articles for thesis writing.”
“However, as an Association, we appreciate the Vice-Chancellor for the introduction and launch of this digitalisation programme to enhance the experience of students in the field of Information Technology. We share in her vision to achieve a world-class status for UG through digitalisation. We think the identified three-pronged technology-driven initiatives such as Classroom Modernisation, One Student One Laptop, Hot-Spot Comfort Zones are strong areas essential to promote quality work and assurance effective in research, teaching/learning and administrative activities. We look forward to exploring this new opportunity,” the GRASAG UG president noted in a statement.
