The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has written a letter to the Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Professor Kenneth Attafuah reminding him of his pledge to submit to Parliament a detailed breakdown of the number of Ghanaians registered onto the NIA database within the various districts.
Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa in the letter referred the NIA boss to the assurance he gave in Parliament on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 that the data is readily available “and that you will proceed to submit same without delay.”
He thus finds it is surprising that the NIA boss has not reverted, weeks afterwards.
He wants the NIA to immediately release the said data to “afford Members of Parliament the opportunity to disaggregate the global figures you presented and to have a better contextual appreciation of the true situation in our respective constituencies.”
“My request becomes even more pertinent when we consider your recent interview on Joy FM’s Newsfile, specifically on Saturday, February 25, 2023, where you urged Members of Parliament to come to you at the NIA headquarters for what you described as reliable data”.
