The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Assin North constituency, James Gyakye Quayson is hopeful of coming out victorious in his trial.
The MP is currently in court over forgery and perjury charges.
The state is going after him on charges of deceit of public officer contrary to section 251 (b) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960, Act 29; forgery of passport or travel certificate, contrary to section 15 (1)(b) of Passports and Travel Certificates Act, 1967 (NLCD 155); and, knowingly making a false statutory declaration in contravention of the Statutory Declarations Act, 1971, Act 389.

Speaking to journalists in Accra, James Gyakye Quayson says he will come out victorious.
“This is a fight for justice and democracy. Today its may be happening to Quayson and not happening to someone else. A true democracy should have a transparent system and a fair justice trial… I believe in the rule of law, so I am very hopeful that this matter will come to a very favourable conclusion,” he noted.
Meanwhile, the Minority in Parliament has three times boycotted business activities in parliament in order to accompany their colleague, Mr Quayson, to court.
