The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has reached a significant milestone in the prosecution of Alexander Kwabena Sarfo Kantanka, a nominee for the position of Chief Executive of the Juaben Municipal Assembly.
The OSP has officially closed its case after Counsel for the Accused concluded the cross-examination of the last witness presented by the Republic on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.
Throughout the proceedings, the state called upon a total of six witnesses.
Following the completion of the cross-examination, Counsel for the accused expressed their intention to file a submission of no case to answer.
This submission suggests that the defence believes there is insufficient evidence to support the charges brought against their client.
The Court acknowledged the defence’s intention and informed both parties that it would provide directions regarding the response to the submission of no case on the next scheduled court date.
As a result, the case has been adjourned until October 20, 2023.
