The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) will today, Wednesday, October 18, 2023, tour the areas affected by the spillage of the Akosombo Dam.
The visit will be paid by a high-powered delegation of the EPCG led by the Moderator of the General Assembly, Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Bliss Divine Agbeko (Rtd.).
The delegation will meet with the leadership of the local council of churches, traditional authorities, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), heads of schools, district assemblies, and other relevant stakeholders to obtain firsthand information about the devastating situation.
They will also meet with some displaced victims at Aveyime Battor and Sogakope Districts to commiserate with them and offer some relief items to cushion their plight.
The EPCG made this known in a statement issued in Accra on Wednesday.
“The Church urges the government and the inter-ministerial committee not to pay lip service of promises to the victims, but to treat the situation as a matter of top priority with pragmatic solutions.”
“It is also appealing to its members as well as other faith organizations, corporate institutions, and philanthropists to offer assistance to the affected persons,” the Church stated.
