The Ranking Member of the Finance Committee of Parliament, Isaac Adongo, has criticized the Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, for accusing the Minority of politicizing issues related to the National Investment Bank (NIB).
In a press conference on Wednesday, Annoh-Dompreh chided the Minority for churning out false information aimed at making the government unpopular. However, Adongo reacted to the accusation by saying that the Majority should proffer concrete solutions rather than engage in partisan banter.
“The issues of NIB are not politicization,” Adongo said.
“We have put together a program and roadmap that can save NIB. If they have alternative solutions on the table, they should proffer those solutions and let us compare their superiority. But I want Annoh-Dompreh and the Majority to know that we have one objective: to bring like-minded people together to proffer solutions that will save NIB so that it can perform its functions.”
“I heard Annoh-Dompreh say that NIB gave loans to non-bank financial institutions and that those monies cannot be recovered,” Adongo continued.
“But I don’t blame Annoh-Dompreh, because very simple knowledge of regulatory conduct will tell you that if the Securities and Exchange Commission together with the Bank of Ghana are trying to collapse financial institutions, we do what we call interconnected lending within the industry.”
