The South Suntreso Young Women’s Wing of the Women’s Ministry Department of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church (SDA) has extended support to patients in four health facilities in the Ashanti Region.
The group provided food and essential items to patients at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Kwadaso SDA, Hart Adventist, and the Bremang SDA Hospitals.
As part of the gesture, medical bills totaling Ghc22,000 were paid for eleven patients at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), who couldn’t be discharged due to their inability to settle the bills.
Additionally, the group contributed Ghc4,000 to Kwadaso SDA Hospital Charity, Ghc2,000 to the Hart Adventist Hospital, and Ghc2,000 to the Breman SDA Hospital to support healthcare delivery in these facilities.
The Young Women Wing stated that this act of kindness was part of its observance of Young Women’s Day under the theme “Jesus In Bed.”
Dorcas Asare, Coordinator for the Young Women at South Suntreso SDA Church, explained that the theme aimed to symbolically express that patients in hospitals deserved assistance and care, aligning with the teachings of Jesus Christ.
She commended the South Suntreso SDA Church for its support, enabling them to bring joy to the patients and staff of the beneficiary hospitals.
Authorities at the SDA Hospitals expressed gratitude for the unprecedented gesture, with Deputy Chief Nursing Officer Mariam Osei-Bonsu at KATH stating that the staff were overwhelmed by the Young Women Wing’s intervention. She thanked the church and appealed for support from other groups to enhance healthcare delivery at the facility.
