The Ghana Hajj Board has cautioned prospective pilgrims for the 2024 exercise against unauthorized agents.
This comes in light of escalated concerns about the fraudulent activities of unauthorized agents during the Hajj season.
Speaking at a news conference in Accra, the Chairman of the Board, Ben Abdallah Banda, highlighted measures taken to bring persons found culpable to book.
“The Ghana Hajj Board is the only legitimate body recognized and mandated by Saudi authorities to organize and manage the affairs of Ghanaian pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Paying money to any other persons not recognized by the Ghana Hajj Board is at your own peril. We wish to use this opportunity to advise those who wish to go for the Hajj using tourist visas to be mindful of the inherent drawbacks and the fact that it’s illegal to do so according to Saudi and Ghanaian laws. They should discard such thoughts. Stringent measures, unlike previous ones, are going to be rolled out by the Saudi authorities to prevent such persons from abusing their status,” the Chairman of the Ghana Hajj Board stated.

The Hajj Village in Accra, on January 24, 2024, during a press conference, announced that Ghanaians wishing to perform the 2024 Hajj Pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia are expected to pay a fee of GH¢75,000.
Over 4,000 Ghanaians are expected to perform this year’s pilgrimage to Mecca in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This is consistent with last year’s fare.
