The former First Lady, Lordina Dramani Mahama, has marked the 2024 International Women’s Day with a message of unity and empowerment for women across the nation.
Mrs Mahama, in a statement on Friday, March 8, 2024, emphasized the importance of supporting and uplifting women in all aspects of society and celebrating each other’s successes.
Mrs Mahama who is also the President of Lordina Foundation commended her husband, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, and the party, for the bold decision to select Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as the running mate, breaking barriers and paving the way for more women in leadership positions.
She reaffirmed her commitment to supporting women, children, and health facilities nationwide, through the Lordina Foundation.
She highlighted the impact of the newly constructed Lordina Foundation Maternity and Children’s Ward at the Bole District Hospital, which contributed to the zero maternal mortality rate recorded in 2023.
Mrs. Mahama urged continued investment in women, emphasizing that empowering women is not only a moral imperative but also an economic one.
