Majority Leader in Parliament and Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has expressed scepticism about the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) chances of winning the 2024 general elections if the achievements of the government are not communicated.
He highlighted the critical role of effective communication in NPP’s quest for victory in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
He emphasized the importance of consistently and boldly showcasing the government’s accomplishments since 2017 to the electorate.
Afenyo-Markin pointed out that without proper dissemination of the government’s success stories, the NPP’s ambition to “break the 8” and retain power could face challenges.
He urged party supporters and appointees to actively promote the government’s projects and achievements through various media channels.
“Breaking the 8 requires a bold consistent communication of our success stories. If we don’t communicate our achievements to Ghanaians, we shall struggle to break the 8. We must make conscious efforts to sell our stories, for we have a story to tell for our stewardship,” Afenyo-Markin said in an interview on Peace 104.3 FM’s Kokrokoo.
The 2024 elections are shaping up to be a competitive race, with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and opposition NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama as the main contenders.
