Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has called on corporate groups and non-profit organizations, including Rotary International, to prioritize the socio-economic growth and development of Ghana.
Speaking at the Rotary International District 9104’s first District Conference in Kumasi, the Asantehene emphasized the need for stronger partnerships to complement government efforts towards an improved and sustainable economy.
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed his passion and dedication to improving lives and economic development in Ghana and urged Rotary International to prioritize human and holistic development in the country.
He commended the organization for its contributions to Ghana’s development and encouraged a partnership to create impactful projects.
“Aligning with the sustainable development goals, the Rotary Club be poised to champion initiatives that foster environmental sustainability, equitable education and broad economic opportunities paving the way for a prosperous future for all Ghanaians. So, focusing on new leadership and entrepreneurship promises to unlock the immense potential of Ghana’s vibrant youth, driving innovation and progress. Addressing health challenges beyond polio, including malaria, HIV AIDS, and new emerging health concerns remains imperative.”
The District Governor of Rotary International District 9104, David Osei Amankwah Jnr, reiterated the organization’s commitment to serving humanity and providing resources to the community based on their needs.
He emphasized that the ultimate goal of Rotary International is “service above self,” with a focus on creating hope and making a difference in people’s lives.
“The ultimate goal is service above self. We are giving to humanity everything or as much as we can give in our little way. I said before that we are ordinary people doing extraordinary things. We provide the network of resources and we provide it to the community, assess their needs and we provide to them.”
