2024 Polls: Ali Suraj urges Zongo Communities to support Bawumia

Alhaji Ali Suraj, a youth leader and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, has called on eligible voters in Zongo communities nationwide to participate fully in the ongoing Voter Registration Exercise.

Alhaji Suraj emphasised that registering to vote is crucial for exercising democratic rights and choosing a leader who can enhance lives and drive Ghana’s economic development.

He specifically urged existing and first-time voters from Zongo communities to help elect Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the first Muslim President of Ghana.

Highlighting Dr Bawumia’s unique qualifications, Suraj stated that Bawumia is the best candidate in the 2024 general elections to transform Ghana’s development.

He acknowledged the active involvement of political parties in the registration exercise, aiming to attract first-time voters, but affirmed that the NPP remains committed to delivering compelling campaign messages to win public support.

Alhaji Suraj remarked that “The 2024 general elections hold the promise of making history with a Northerner and a Muslim becoming President. This is a unique opportunity, as previous Northern founders of the party did not have this chance.”

He further urged his fellow Muslims in the Zongo communities to register and be part of this historic moment.

“Dr. Bawumia, stemming from the Dombo lineage in the NPP’s history and being a Muslim, stands as our Flagbearer. Let us seize this chance to elect him as President.”

Alhaji Suraj noted that the Zongo communities have a pivotal role in making this history and should not let the opportunity pass.

He compared this potential milestone to the celebrated legacies of past leaders like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Jerry John Rawlings, Busia, and Danquah, asserting that a Northern and Muslim President would be a significant addition to Ghana’s history.

He also called on security agencies to maintain order at registration centres to ensure a peaceful process.

Alhaji Suraj cautioned the youth to abide by the laws and resist being manipulated by politicians to engage in violence for selfish gains.

After monitoring the registration exercise at the Asokore Mampong District office of the Electoral Commission (EC), he expressed his satisfaction with the turnout and encouraged eligible voters to continue participating in the registration process.
